Dental Bonding

Dental bonding provides an excellent alternative to dental veneers for restoring teeth that are cracked, chipped, discolored or misaligned.

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure used to improve the appearance of a tooth. It can cover chips, fill cavities, and close gaps between teeth. At Erik P. Cadra, DMD, we use dental bonding to help our patients achieve a beautiful, natural-looking smile.

The dental bonding process involves lightly etching the surface of the tooth and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, we apply a tooth-colored resin and sculpt it into the desired shape. After the resin hardens, we trim, smooth, and polish it to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.

  • How Long Does Dental Bonding Last?

Dental bonding can last anywhere from three to 10 years, depending on the location of the bonding and your oral habits. Regular dental checkups and proper oral hygiene can help extend the life of your dental bonding.

  • Does Dental Bonding Hurt?

The dental bonding procedure is generally painless and does not usually require anesthesia unless it is being used to fill a cavity. You may experience some tooth sensitivity after the procedure, but this typically goes away quickly.

  • Dental Bonding Vs. Crowns — Which One Should I Get?

Choosing between dental bonding and crowns depends on the extent of the damage and your specific needs. Dental bonding is ideal for minor repairs and cosmetic improvements, while crowns are better for more extensive damage and structural issues. Crowns offer greater durability and strength, especially for teeth subjected to heavy chewing pressure.
